Download Code Loader

The Handheld Code Loader program is designed to work with Anritsu's handheld "Master" family products for downloading "free" firmware upgrades to either the Site Master, Spectrum Master, or Cell Master. Customers can now download the Code Loader from Anritsu’s web site.

Hereafter, the term "instrument" will refer to the handheld "Master" family products.

Please note that when the instrument is updated with the new Handheld Code Loader program the setups and traces saved in the unit will be erased. Thus it is recommended to download all the traces before installing the Handheld Code Loader. Firmware can be down loaded using external power or internal battery. It is advised that the customer check the battery power (minimum 50% battery charge is required) before downloading the program. If the battery requires charging during the download it may lock the unit in the process.

Requirements to download the Code Loader Program are:

Intel Pentium 90 MHz or better PC
16 MB of system memory
5 MB of free hard disk space
Available COM port

The following procedure with some pop-up windows is what should be expected during the Handheld Code Loader installation process.

Download the Handheld Code Loader program from Anritsu’s website.
Launch the Handheld Code Loader from Windows. The user is advised to read the Handheld Code Loader "Readme" file for the latest information on firmware upgrades, code loader upgrades and revovery information.

After the Read me file is closed the following Handheld Code Loader main screen will pop up.

Select "Tools’ and click Setup to configure the COM port.

Switch the Instrument OFF and connect it to the PC’s Serial COM port with a NULL cable modem.

Press and hold F1, F3 and F5 soft keys (1, 3 and 5 soft keys) then switch the Instrument ON.

The Handheld Code Loader automatically loads the latest firmware into instrument's memory.

The Handheld Code Loader automatically erases previously stored traces and setups.

If you get an error message Error 6 - "Overflow" occurred, after code loading is done due to firmware version upgrades, you must do a manual SYS ON to fix this. To do a manual SYS ON, turn off the instrument, hold the SYS button and Press the on/off button. This will erase previous setups and stored traces in the unit.
When the download is completed the instrument will reset itself and the program will automatically update the firmware version in the box.
